Art gallery & studio · Kroma · Sveti Petar u Šumi, Istria
Original paintings from the heart of Istria.
Since 1998, husband and wife have painted from a small studio in the forests of inner Istria. In oil and watercolour, they follow the land around them: olive groves and dry stone walls, the light of the Adriatic, flowers from the garden and the Istrian table.

About Kroma
Two artists, one studio, since 1998.
Kroma is a small family art studio in Sveti Petar u Šumi, in the green heart of Istria. Husband and wife paint mostly in oil, alongside watercolour: Istrian landscapes, still lifes, the sea, flowers, animals and abstract compositions.
He also carves modern sculpture, most notably the Way of the Cross (Križni put) in Sveti Petar u Šumi, fourteen stations in Istrian stone, and makes wood work, mostly jewellery, choosing each wood for its grain and colour.
Everything they make begins with what is real and close to home: sunlight on dry stone and olive bark, reflections on still water, white linen beside ripe fruit.

Landscapes
The roads around the studio
Olive groves, dry stone walls and white country roads of inner Istria, painted in every season.

Surrealism
Adriatic reflections
On the water, light breaks and shifts. Painted, it bends once more. Reflections, ripples and colours of the Adriatic.

“Art does not reproduce the visible; rather, it makes visible.”
Still life
The Istrian table
The everyday things of an Istrian home, painted in the long tradition of still life.
