Altar painting of the Good Shepherd with his flock above the main altar of the church in Potpićan
The painting in the apse of the main altar, Church of the Good Shepherd, Potpićan.

One flock, under the Trinity

The composition is built as a pyramid. At its base the flock gathers, standing for the faithful. Above it, the Holy Trinity: the Holy Spirit as a dove, Christ as the Good Shepherd carrying a lamb, and God the Father blessing all of creation.

The painting was made in the family workshop. Alida Srblin, an academic painter, painted it in oil on canvas, while her husband Josip took care of the technical side of a work of this scale.

The canvas measures 250 × 450 cm, with Christ painted at life size. It hangs in the apse above the main altar of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Potpićan.

Blessed on Good Shepherd Sunday

The painting was blessed on Good Shepherd Sunday, the fourth Sunday of Easter, in April 2021, at a solemn Mass celebrated by the parish priest, Fr Josip Peteh, with Fr Dragutin Petrović, parish priest of Plomin.

A second Good Shepherd, as a gift

Inspired by the altar painting, a second Good Shepherd was painted in 2025, this time on a regular canvas, and given to the church as a gift.
